Frozen Ship Captain's Log

GUIDE · WORLD & STORY

Frozen Ship Story & Quests

Beneath the survival loop is a narrative about a captain, a crew, and a planet that no longer forgives mistakes. Here's how the story is structured.

Much of the main plot and locations arrive through Early Access updates (Steam EA launched Aug 6–7, 2026). The "New Beginning" mode is the intended full-story container. The background below reflects the shipped narrative premise.

The "New Beginning" Arc

The world froze when a meteor altered Earth's orbit and plunged the planet into a permanent ice age. Your settlement survived only by huddling around a dying volcano for warmth — but that last heat source is failing too. In a desperate bid, the engineers converted a massive mining dump truck into a mobile city. You are its captain, leading 20 souls across the frozen Earth to find a new home. The main storyline follows that journey — your decisions shape the fate of the crew and the mission's outcome.

It's a story with real beats: memories of children flickering in burning debris, a village elder who fears the noose, a young doctor certain she has a calling. The writing is a highlight even when the systems around it are still rough.

Chapter 1 Structure (~20 Hours)

The first chapter runs roughly 20 hours and builds in stages rather than dumping everything at once:

  1. Establish a survival floor. Secure heat, food, and a stable routine aboard the moving city before anything else.
  2. Open a trade economy. Connect with traders and factions so resources and information start flowing.
  3. Early set-piece missions. Scripted, tense objectives that test the systems you've built.
  4. Faction choices. Decisions that commit you to (or against) the groups you've met.
  5. Find a settlement candidate. Locate a place worth calling home — the chapter's closing goal.

Side Quests & Lore

A World That Rewrites Itself

Because the open world is procedurally generated, routes, dangers, and even some story beats shift each playthrough. No two expeditions tell quite the same tale — which is why the lore feels discovered, not scripted. The same side-quest hook can lead you down a different path (and to different traders/factions) depending on how the frozen map lays out.
